Detect underlying issues caused by or related to:

  • Sinuses, TMJ, Neck Pain
  • Cardiovascular Health
  • Acid Reflux, Lung Health
  • Upper Back Stress or Strain
  • Digestive Disorders
  • Lower Back Pain

Sinuses, TMJ, Neck Pain

If you suffer from sinus issues seasonally or year round, you likely experience symptoms that could include runny or stuffy nose, pain or pressure in the sinus cavities, headaches, possibly toothaches, bad breath, and may be diagnosed with frequent sinus infections. A thermogram called a health scan can help identify the areas of inflammation in the sinuses and move towards identifying a plan of action to help combat sinus issues.

TMJ affects the jaw but can have many symptoms. Most commonly jaw pain or a clicking/locking in the jaw is felt. Also experienced with TMJ include: limited movement of the jaw, jaw tenderness, stiff jaw muscles, upper and lower teeth not fitting together, severe pain in or around the ear, headaches, and pain or trouble chewing. A health scan can identify areas of inflammation in the jaw/dental region and help aid in diagnosis as well as clinical decisions.

Additionally, thermography/a health scan can help to identify neck pain and narrow in on the exact region causing the pain– an area of muscle spasming, for example, will show a higher thermal temperature profile than a calmer area in the neck/body.

For each of these issues in the head/face/neck, a thermal health scan can help identify specific problem areas and move you towards a more pain-free health.

Cardiovascular Health

Cardiovascular diseases are actually the most common cause of death worldwide. But because there are many ways to reduce your risk of cardiovascular issues and because there are many ways to improve your cardiovascular health, it is important to be vigilant to address these symptoms or concerns of potential cardiovascular problems. Inflammation is a precursor to many diseases, including cardiovascular disease; thermography is excellent at detecting inflammation in the body! A thermal health scan can identify areas of concerning inflammation that could be affecting your cardiovascular health, and interpretation by a thermologist can help you to know what actions to consider or what questions to ask moving forward to improve your heart health. Typical symptoms of underlying cardiovascular problems can be broad, but some of the most common symptoms to be aware of include:

  • Pain or pressure in the chest
  • Pain/discomfort in the back, jaw, arms, left shoulder, or elbows
  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Dizziness/lightheadedness
  • Cold sweats

Acid Reflux and Lung Health

Indigestion, heartburn, and regurgitation are three main symptoms of acid reflux; many people are very familiar with these symptoms, painfully so. These symptoms often occur after a heavy meal, when bending over or lifting something heavy, or when lying down on your back. Indigestion, also known as dyspepsia, can range from general stomach discomfort to nausea, burping, bloated feelings, or upper abdominal discomfort. Heartburn is a burning sensation/pain/discomfort that can move from your stomach to your abdomen or chest or throat.  Contrary to its name, it doesn’t actually affect your heart. Regurgitation is the feeling of acid backing up into your throat or mouth. This can produce a sour taste, especially when you burp. Any of these symptoms can be a sign that stomach acid has inflamed your esophagus. Acid reflux is very common and rarely serious, but some lifestyle changes are often all that are necessary to control these symptoms.

Symptoms of lung trouble can include shortness of breath, coughing, noisy breathing, and chest pain.

A health scan with Insight can help to identify these areas of inflammation as well as monitor the progression or improvement of these conditions.

Upper Back Stress or Strain

The symptoms of upper back stress or strain are probably no secret– pain, tenderness, swelling, stiffness, tightness. Back pain is relatively common, and can be the result of poor posture, muscle strain/injury, injury to discs or ligaments, or even stress and emotional tension. Using thermography, a health scan can help identify specific areas of inflammation. The interpretation of your thermogram/health scan could help give you some insight as to some potential causes for inflammation and possibly modalities to help you begin to heal and manage that back pain/stress/strain. Follow up health scans can help to track progression or improvement/resolution of back stress and strain.

Digestive Disorders

Digestive disorders are often not very silent in their symptoms. Bloating, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, bleeding (stomach or rectal), incontinence, nausea, and vomiting can all be symptoms of an underlying digestive disorder. Some common digestive disorders with at least one of the above symptoms include: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), gallstones, celiac disease, Crohn’s disease,  Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis, hemorrhoids, diverticulitis, or anal fissures. Digestive disorders can be caused by underlying viruses or bacteria, inflammation, poor circulation to the intestines, side effects of anti-inflammatory drugs, gallstones, muscle dysfunction, as well as have many other causes. A health scan can help to identify areas of inflammation– which is often the first sign of disease, regardless of any other underlying cause. A treatment plan and follow up health scan(s)  can help improve digestive disorder symptoms and monitor progress in healing.

Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is pain or even stiffness located in the lower part of the back. Sometimes this pain may radiate further down the body, into the legs or buttocks or hips, for example. The pain could be sharp or dull or radiating. The source of the pain could be a muscle strain/injury, a herniated disc, a kidney infection, a pinched nerve, or pregnancy. Back pain can remain constant or come and go. A health scan can identify lower back pain sources because changes or variations in skin temperature indicate certain underlying disease processes, degenerations, etc.  In a health scan, the variations of skin temperature are exactly what your thermographer will be looking at and having assessed so that you can receive the tools you need to help improve acute or chronic lower back pain, whatever the cause. Follow up health scans can show if conditions are changing and/or improving.

Critical Risk Markers Provided By Thermography

Recent studies have proven that infrared imaging provides important markers that are indicators for high risk of cancer.

Thermography can help your health care provider see more and help them have more to rely on than just your family medical history.

A Thermography scan can also identify future risk, giving patients a chance to take proactive approaches and opportunities to work with their health care provider to improve breast health.

Thermography is a powerful medical imaging tool that helps medical professionals identify cancer at much earlier stages by maintaining close monitoring of breast health which can help prevent invasive tumor growth.

Importance Of Qualified Thermography Interpretation

It is important that a trained medical professional review your thermography (MIR) scans and provide a qualified medical interpretation.

identifying normal thermographic readings from abnormalities requires proper training, experience and commitment to medical guidelines.

When thermographic images are professionally produced and then interpreted by trained medical professionals, those images can provide invaluable information that can save lives.

For example, patients with dense breasts or a previous history of breast surgery, can receive key insights from thermography as a result of drawing attention to areas the should be evaluated or inspected more closely and could lead to additional mammograms, ultrasounds or an MRI.

Thermography is considered an adjunctive imaging technique and is most often combined with other medical imaging techniques to provide crucial insights and a fuller picture of your health.

Comparative Studies

Early detection can saves lives.

Unfortunately, many medical imaging tests are typically only performed after an abnormality is identified during a physical screening.

By using additional screening methods, like thermography, doctors can identify early signs and pre-cancer, giving patients time to take proactive approaches earlier on.

Early Detection

Thermographic imaging can be a crucial difference for early detection of cancer.

You may have read or seen information regarding the risk of breast cancer being higher in women whose close relatives have had the disease.

Recent data has shown that 1 in every 8 women in the US will get breast cancer in their lifetime.

Studies also have shown an increased survival rate when breast thermography and mammography are used in concert.

Thermography has the ability to detect thermal signs that may suggest a pre-cancerous state of the breast, or signs of cancer at a very early stage.

This ability is attributed to the way thermography can monitor the temperature variations produced by the earliest changes in tissue physiology.

Thermography does not currently have the ability to pinpoint the location of a tumor and is not 100% guaranteed to detect all cancers but it’s role in detection and diagnosis remains critical, especially when combined with other screening methods.

Thermography is an excellent adjunction to mammography and physical examination but is not meant to be a replacement of these screenings.

These imaging tests complement each other and help doctors gain clearer understanding.

Insight Thermography Of Oklahoma believes in using every means possible to assist in detecting cancers when there is the greatest chance for survival.

If treated cancer is treated in the early stages, cure rates are incredibly promising.

Thermography Health Study Questions

How Does a thermography camera work?

Thermography cameras capture images by using a combination of sensors and circuits that produce an image that reflects infrared light being emitted from different areas of your body.  Thermographic cameras cause no pain and provide key health insights for doctors and patients.

What makes medical infrared imaging (MIR) so helpful?

Many other forms of medical imaging are classified as “Structural” imaging that perform the task of finding things like tumors.

Thermography detects heat which is produced by increased blood vessel circulation and metabolic changes in a tumor growth.

In some cases thermography, or medical infrared imaging can identify thermal signs that may signal a pre-cancerous state or identify the presence of an early tumor that is not yet large enough to be identified with a physical examination.
